Worldwide distribution

Canary Islands and Cape Verde (accidental in Madeira). Widely distributed by the Palearctic, Australia, Africa and Madagascar.

Habitat

It is one of the most frequent raptors in migration in the Canary Islands, especially in the eastern islands and islets, although wintering individuals have also been detected. (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
