Canary Islands, Mediterranean and Atlantic coast of Morocco.
South and Northeast of Lanzarote, and Chinijo archipelago (Graciosa, Montaña Clara, Alegranza and Roque del Este).
It is a gregarious hawk linked to roques, islets and sea cliffs, although sometimes it can be seen inland. The nest is a simple depression located in a small cave or ledge. Exceptionally you can find some nests under tabaibas and even old crow nests. They leave the archipelago after reproduction, moving to areas of East Africa and especially to Madagascar. (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
In the census conducted in 2007 the population is estimated at 302 couples. (López-Darias, M. and Rumeu, B. 2008)
