Worldwide distribution

Cosmopolitan distribution and inhabits the productive waters of all the great oceans of the world. He is an exceptional migrator. In the summer months it can reach the ice line, while in winter most of the population congregates in quality or tropical waters to reproduce.

Distribution in the Canary Islands

Ocean to the South and Southwest of El Hierro, North and West of La Gomera, South, West and Northwest of Tenerife, North and Southwest of Gran Canaria and South of Lanzarote.

Habitat

With the exception of the population of the Arabian Sea, this species generates long migrations between the breeding areas (tropical coastal waters) and the feeding ones (medium and high latitudes in the continental shelf waters). (IUCN, 2015)
