Ocean to the Southwest, South and Southeast of El Hierro, South, West and Northwest of La Palma, West, Southwest, South, Southeast and East of La Gomera, practically around the entire island of Tenerife (except the Northeast), Gran Canaria, South, East and North of Fuerteventura and South, Southeast, Northeast and Northwest of Lanzarote.

It inhabits both near and distant waters of the coast. Sometimes a single population can occupy an entire area, but it has often been observed the existence of some forms, called "neritic", that inhabit the coastal strip, and other "oceanic", which are distributed in regions far from the coast, dividing among them the trophic resources and the space.
