It is distributed in the western and eastern Atlantic, Indian Ocean, western Pacific and eastern Pacific.
Ocean to the Southeast of Tenerife.
It seems to feed mainly on deep-water cephalopods, found on or near the edge of the continental shelf. (IUCN, 2015)
