Rare zyphid that inhabits only the warm and tropical waters of the North Atlantic, although some specimens have been cited south of the line of Ecuador that undoubtedly belong to the same population. The limits of its distribution seem to be the Canary Islands and the coast of Florida to the north and Ecuador to the south, although some registers are known that are located outside this strip.
Ocean to the South of La Gomera, Northwest and Southeast of Tenerife, North and Southwest of Gran Canaria, Southwest, South, Southeast, East and Northeast of Fuerteventura and Northeast of Lanzarote.
It lives in oceanic and deep waters, but its habitat is unknown with greater precision. (Ministry of the Environment, 2006)
