Cosmopolitan. It is found in all oceans, except in the high polar waters it is present in all temperate and tropical waters around the world.
Ocean to the Southwest and Southeast of El Hierro, West and East of La Palma, Southwest and South of La Gomera, practically around the entire island of Tenerife (except Northeast and Southeast), Northwest, Southwest and Northeast of Gran Canaria, South and Southeast of Fuerteventura, Southwest, East and Northeast of Lanzarote and Chinijo archipelago (West of Alegranza).
Present almost anywhere where the water is deep (more than 200 m), especially near the continental slope and steep slopes. (IUCN, 2015)
