Origin

Habitat

This species extends in the intertidal zone, with its largest populations in the middle and upper-middle horizons, together with communities of cyanobacteria and populations of sacbocaos (Chthamalus stellatus). Due to the semidiurnal tidal regime, this species goes through periods of prolonged emersion, and in times of strong insolation suffer great water stress that can be irreversible. (Núñez et al., 2003)

Population data

In the census conducted in 2014, the population was estimated at 3,419 individuals (González et al., 2014)

Protection states for this species have not been defined.
