South of El Hierro, Southwest and Northeast of La Palma, West and East of La Gomera, Northwest, West, Southwest, South and Northeast of Tenerife, practically the entire coast of Gran Canaria (except the west), practically the whole island of Fuerteventura (including Wolves), West, East, Northeast and North of Lanzarote, archipelago chinijo (Graciosa).
This species extends in the intertidal zone, with its largest populations in the middle and upper-middle horizons, together with communities of cyanobacteria and populations of sacbocaos (Chthamalus stellatus). Due to the semidiurnal tidal regime, this species goes through periods of prolonged emersion, and in times of strong insolation suffer great water stress that can be irreversible. (Núñez et al., 2003)
In the census conducted in 2014, the population was estimated at 3,419 individuals (González et al., 2014)
