Azores, Madeira and the Canaries. Atlantic Plate of southern Europe, Island of the Bahamas and west of the Mediterranean Sea.
Coasts West of La Palma, South of La Gomera, and South and Southwest of Tenerife.
It is found in shallow infralittoral caves, between 0 and 10 meters deep, often with fresh water seepage. It lives on walls, ceilings and sometimes on the substrate. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2009)
