This species is part of the monteverde, often located in rocky situations on steep slopes and under the influence of the sea of clouds (Bañares et al., 2004)
In the census conducted in 2012, 59 individuals were counted in La Palma, of whom 41 were adults, 8 were juveniles and 10 were virginal; the subpopulations of Barranco Fagundo and Barranco Porlier seem to have disappeared. In Tenerife, 17 were counted, of which 13 were adults and 4 were juveniles; the subpopulation of El Pijaral is provisionally considered to have disappeared (TRAGSATEC, 2012)
