Habitat

It is installed in humid gullies or with running water at least in rainy seasons, as well as in water summaries on cliffs and in phreatic level outcrops. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2009)

Population data

In the census conducted in 2011, the natural population is estimated at 33,427 adult specimens. The natural subpopulation of La Palma is estimated at 4,565 specimens; the natural subpopulation of La Gomera is estimated at 21,402 individuals; The natural subpopulation of Tenerife is estimated at 5,409 specimens; the natural subpopulation of Gran Canaria is estimated at 2,051 copies; in El Hierro, no specimens were found.
