Canary endemic
North, Northeast and East of La Palma, Center of La Gomera, Northwest, North and Northeast of Tenerife, and North of Gran Canaria.
It is found in the best preserved and most humid places of the monteverde, in ravine bottoms and occasionally on rocks in oozing walls. It can also be found in cresting tiles, fayal-heathland, sauzales and dry monteverde. (Beltrán et al., 1999)
In the census carried out in 2012, 150 specimens were counted for Tenerife, both natural and cultivated, of which 132 were adults and 18 were juveniles; The nucleus in the old Center for Environmental Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands is confirmed to have disappeared. For Gran Canaria, 5 specimens were counted, both natural and cultivated. For La Palma, 123 adult individuals, both natural and cultivated, were surveyed. (TRAGSATEC, 2012)
