Habitat

It develops in terraces and crevices of cliffs cliffs and steep areas near the coast, between 100 and 450 msm It is installed preferably in shaded areas where some soil accumulates. It is part of the bushes of the low areas, although elements of the thermophilic forest and of transition to the fayal-heathland appear in the higher elevation enclaves.
