Distribution in the Canary Islands

South, Center, East and North of Fuerteventura, Southwest and North of Lanzarote, and Chinijo archipelago (Graciosa and Alegranza).

Origin

Habitat

Appears forming part of the typical communities of the cardonal-tabaibal or sweet tabaibal, on badlands or in crevices and small platforms on inaccessible cliffs. Generally it is in a refuge situation, sheltered from herbivores (Bañares et al., 2004)

Population data

In the census conducted in 2014, 128 specimens were counted in Fuerteventura and 4 adult specimens were recorded in La Graciosa. In Lanzarote, the population is estimated between 1,157 and 3,568. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2014)
