South of Tenerife, North, Northeast, East, Southeast and South of Gran Canaria, North, Center and South of Fuerteventura (including Lobos), Southwest, Northwest, Southeast and East of Lanzarote.

It nests in salt pans, ponds, lagoons and ponds. The nests are located very close to each other, and consist of simple depressions on the ground, covered with pebbles, fragments of shells and some plant material. The troops that nest in Lanzarote have remained in the area. The archipelago is a place of regular passage for this species, forming part of an important flight route along the Atlantic coast of Africa and Europe. (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
