Virtually the whole island of El Hierro, West, South and Northeast of La Palma, practically the whole island of La Gmera, the whole island of Tenerife (except the East coast), North, West, Southwest and Center of Gran Canaria, practically all the island of Fuerteventura (except the West zone, but including Lobos), South, East and Northwest of Lanzarote and the Chinijo archipelago (Graciosa, Montaña Clara, Alegranza and Roque del Este).

Species linked to the sea, occupying very steep areas of the coast, although occasionally you can visit ponds or dams of fresh water in the interior. The nest becomes very voluminous (sometimes up to 2 m high), and is located quite high in coastal cliffs. It is possible that the nesting population carry out inter-island movements and even that they leave the archipelago. (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
