Canary endemic
Practically the whole of El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura (including Lobos), Central and Northern Lanzarote, and the Chinijo archipelago (Graciosa and Alegranza).
It is a species widely distributed in the archipelago, occupying practically all the habitats available from the coast to 2000 m. In general it requires abrupt and rugged areas such as cliffs, cliffs and ravines. Although it can inhabit forest environments, where it really abounds is at the lower edge of the monteverde and the pine forest. In the lower and less rugged levels scarce or missing. It mostly nests in cliffs, ravines, and even in coastal cliffs and trees. They can make movements of several kilometers towards areas where they do not breed. (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
The population is estimated between 430 and 445 pairs (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
