Canary endemic
East of Gran Canaria, practically the whole island of Lanzarote, and Chinijo archipelago (Roque del Este, Graciosa, Alegranza and Montaña Clara).
It is found in coastal and stony sands with scrubland, redoubts of tabaibal and thermophilic forests and cultivated areas. It is not found in recent lavas and pyroclastics without vegetation. Its altitudinal distribution extends from the littoral to the summit. (Salvador, 2009)
Data are available for two locations in Lanzarote: the area surrounding Cueva de Los Verdes has a density of 1,460 individuals per hectare and for Peña Redonda a density of 1,728 individuals per hectare. (Fariña & Arechavaleta, 2002)
