Distribution in the Canary Islands

Center, West, Southwest and South of Gran Canaria.

Origin

Habitat

It is abundant in most of the island. It is rare, however, in La Isleta where its presence is limited to the most favorable microclimate zones. Nor is it abundant in the pine forests of the Canary Islands. Its altitudinal range is extremely wide, and includes coastal populations associated with thermophilic vegetation, to the summits of the center of the island. (Pleguezuelos et al., 2002)
