Worldwide distribution

Cosmopolitan. It inhabits both hot and cold waters of all oceans, and the availability of food seems to be the only factor that regulates its abundance.

Ocean to the West and Southeast of La Gomera, North of Gran Canaria and South, Southeast, East, Northeast and West of Lanzarote.

Habitat

Its distribution includes both pelagic and coastal waters, depending on the life regime of the dams that constitute its diet in each region. The orca navigates without problems in shallow waters, and even in places where it feeds on terrestrial species, such as pinnipeds or birds, it does not hesitate to leave the water to catch its prey. (Blanco & González, 2006)
