Worldwide distribution

Its main distribution area is the Atlantic and Indo-Pacific region. The main reproduction areas are limited mainly between 25º N and 35º S. In the North Atlantic, the laying areas are concentrated in the Caribbean, in the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico), southern Cuba, and other islands, such as Jamaica, Dominican Republic or Granada.

Habitat

It is most common in coral reef areas of the tropical region, although it can also be observed in shallow well-lit and clean waters, where sponges abound, which are a very important part of their diet. Make long migrations (Pleguezuelos et al., 2002)
