Coasts East of La Palma, West of La Gomera, West, South, North and Southeast of Tenerife, Northwest, West, East and South of Gran Canaria, South, Northeast and North of Fuerteventura (including Lobos), South, Northwest, Southeast and Northeast of Lanzarote, and Chinijo archipelago (Graciosa, Montaña Clara and Alegranza).

It lives on rocky littoral bottoms, in general below 30 m, although it has been observed near the surface. (Bonnet & Rodríguez, 1992)
