North of the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean Sea, West, East and South Africa.
Eastern coasts of La Palma, Northeast, Southeast and Southwest of Tenerife, Northwest and East of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura (without locality), South and East of Lanzarote, and Chinijo archipelago (Roque del Este).
The characteristic habitat of this species is the infralittoral sandy bottoms near rocky areas. During the day it is buried in the sand almost completely, it is a kind of nocturnal habits. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2009)
In the censuses conducted in 2003, 2 individuals were observed in Fuerteventura and 1 in Lanzarote. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2009)
