Canary Islands, Azores and Madeira. Tropical waters of the Gulf of Mexico, temperate waters of the northwest Atlantic, European coasts (North Sea), Mediterranean Sea and coast of Morocco.
South Coast of Fuerteventura.
Usually this species is found in coastal waters of sandy and muddy bottoms rich in crustaceans. (Pleguezuelos et al., 2002)
