Canary Islands and Morocco
South, Central and North of Fuerteventura (including Lobos), South, West, East and Northeast of Lanzarote, and Chinijo archipelago (Graciosa, Montaña Clara and Alegranza). Doubtful presence in the South of Gran Canaria.
This species grows in rocky terrain, in more or less arid areas, sheltering from the direct action of the prevailing NE winds. Sometimes it is found in sandy grounds but of little thickness. It is mainly part of the sweet tabaibal (Reyes et al., 2000)
