Origin

Habitat

It is a fairly common species in the monteverde and the fayal-heath, as well as in mixed pine forests, chestnut forests and crops in the lower edge of the monteverde. It also abounds in the reforestation of Pinus insigne. In mixed pine forests it coexists with the blue finch. It nests in trees, usually in monteverde species, although it also uses pines, cypresses and even canes, granadillos, broom bushes, brambles, etc. After the breeding season, he made movements within the forest itself, producing congregations of importance in the recreational areas. It also moves towards the lower limit of the forest, leaving to areas of crops and wetter parts of the basal floor, especially gully channels. (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
