Origin

Habitat

Restricted to the pine forests of the central islands, with a predilection for pine forests with brushwood underbrush. Its presence in the high mountain scrub is occasional. The nest is located in pines but also in laurel and heather, you can exceptionally use nests of other species, such as the canary. Performs altitudinal movements towards the high mountain areas and towards the lower edge of the pine forest, reaching even areas of crops located around 700 m. Dispersive displacements of juveniles up to about 5 km are known. (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)

Population data

In the census conducted in 2006, the population was estimated between 285 and 342 individuals. (Gallo, 2006)
