Canaries, Azores, Madeira and Savages. Western Europe, Eastern and Southern Africa and America (from Venezuela to Nova Scotia).

Origin

Habitat

It reproduces exclusively on the coast, especially on rocky or sandy islands and also on beaches. They form colonies that are often mixed with other terns, frequently changing their location. (Ministry of the Environment, 2006)

Population data

A couple has been found breeding in El Hierro (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
