Distribution in the Canary Islands

Practically the whole of the island of El Hierro, West of La Palma, and practically all the islands of La Gomera and Tenerife.

Origin

Habitat

It is relatively abundant between the coastline and the zone of thermophilic forests. In the monteverde it is usually relegated to the clearings of the forest. Nor is it lacking in the pine forest, although it is rare and very little abundant. At higher altitudes, more or less isolated populations can be found. (Pleguezuelos et al., 2002)
