Origin

Habitat

The larvae live in the soil and the adults wait inactive buried until suitable environmental conditions appear (generally of high humidity after the rains). Then a large number of individuals emerge at once and actively fly low in search of a mate to reproduce their life being very short-lived. It is linked to the sands of a coastal platform. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2009)

Population data

In the census conducted in 2007, only 14 dead individuals were observed. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2009)
