Canary Islands and Madeira. Mediterranean Sea, Southwest Coast of the Iberian Peninsula and North West Africa to Senegal.

Northeast Coast of El Hierro, East of La Palma, Southwest, South, Southeast and East of La Gomera, West, Southwest, South, Southeast, East and Northeast Tenerife, Northwest, West, Southwest, South, Southeast, East and Northeast Gran Canaria, South, Southeast, East and Northeast of Fuerteventura (including Lobos), practically the entire coast of Lanzarote and the Chinijo archipelago (Graciosa).

Habitat

Form prairies between 6 and 25 m deep. The communities characterized by this plant are called "sebadales" in the Canary Islands. Occasionally, "seba" is mixed with green algae species of the Caulerpa genus. (Haroun et al., 2003)
