Center of El Hierro, Northwest, North, Northeast and East of La Palma, Center of La Gomera, Northwest, Southwest, North and Northeast of Tenerife, and Center, Northwest and North of Gran Canaria.

It is a kind of crepuscular and nocturnal habits. It lives mainly in the monteverde, fayal-heath and mixed pine, also penetrating in reforestation forests, and even in plantain crops. The nest is a slight depression on the litter, covered with some branches, leaves and mosses. Usually located next to an old trunk, often camouflaged among grasses or ferns. It is possible that the nesting forces perform altitudinal movements, abandoning forest formations in unfavorable times, and reaching lower areas. (Martín & Lorenzo, 2001)
