Origin

Habitat

It inhabits in stony rocks mesolitorales and pedregales infralitorales. It usually has good densities in stony rocks formed by rocks of medium size and covered by crusty calcareous red algae, between 0 and 15 m deep. During the day it lives adhered to the stones in its lower face. (Vice-Ministry of the Environment, 2009)

Population data

In the 2002 census, 2,775 individuals were counted: 391 in Lanzarote, 237 in Fuerteventura, 207 in Gran Canaria, 746 in Tenerife, 139 in La Gomera, 540 in El Hierro and 515 in La Palma. (Espino & Herrera, 2002)
