Origin

Habitat

It is distributed, mainly, in the middle and lower intertidal, under rocks in puddles. It has also been found among algae, masses of sponges and marine phanerogams. In the Canaries it can be found from the intertidal to 5-10 m deep, although according to the bibliography in waters north of the Atlantic there are citations up to 130 m deep. It has a predilection for shallow sublitoral waters, where rocky bottoms are combined with some sand, being very difficult to find it in exposed coastal areas.
